Bamboo Fantasy

Sometimes Murphy’s Law strikes and everything that can possibly go wrong, does go wrong. Tonight has definitely been one of those nights. I started the night trying to test a new product and everything was going great, but then my USB connection failed and it was game over. I then decided to process a photo only to have my Wacom Tablet (and at one point my mouse) go kaput. Finally I started to write this article and then even my favorite plug-ins started to misbehave.
After a short visit from my sweet wife, I went to my happy place and quickly processed the photo above from my recent trip to Asia. It’s probably not the final edit for that shot, but it reminds me of a better time on vacation when everything was going right. I figured that was a good place to be for the night!
About the Photo
This photo was taken from the ground at night with a Bamboo Forest lit up with flood lights. It was a long 6 second exposure at f/9 and ISO 400 with my 16-35mm lens mounted to my Canon 1D X. I very quickly processed it using Imagenomic Noiseware, Topaz Adjust 5, and Nik Color Efex 4 from Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS6.
There’s other things I’d probably do to the shot if I had more time and this wasn’t such a messed up night, but I enjoyed the vivid colors and lines in this shot.
Deals
Check out the right column of the blog for updates to the latest holiday deals from B&H. I’ve also been seeing some good stuff on Amazon’s Deal of the Day which I’ve linked here and on the photo click above.
Hopefully things will improve this week and I can resume getting some good articles back online.
Best wishes,
Ron

It may have been a bad night but I love what you did with this image. The lines and abstract quality of this image is very nice view. Thanks for sharing this one.
